The Fraser Coast region is a rare destination, filled with natural wonders and some of the world's most unique attractions with World Heritage listed Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world, with spectacular coloured sands, perched freshwater lakes and towering rainforests. It is also the lowest jumping off point to the Great Barrier Reef with the delightful Lady Elliot Island just a day trip from South East Queensland.
Fraser Island is a haven for tourists, boating and fishing enthusiasts who enjoy estuary, beach, jetty or reef and game fishing. A variety of water sports including diving, water and jet skiing, wind surfing and snorkelling are on offer and four wheel drive tours along sandy beaches through diverse terrain including tall rainforest trees growing on sand dunes at elevations of over 200 metres. The island is rife with wildlife from dingos to goannas and many bird species.
In recent years, the region has become famous as the playground of the majestic Humpback Whales on their return to the Antarctic. From August to October, the whales frolic in the warm sheltered waters of the bay, putting on a spectacular display for spectators.
We offer trips to Lady Elliot Island where you can step off the seashore and snorkel, swim or dive in an underwater garden. The lagoon environment protects beginners while a little further out experienced snorkelers and divers descend to uncover the secrets of the Coral Sea.
Lady Elliot Island has direct flight access with its own island airstrip. The island is located within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in the highest possible classification of Marine National Park Zone by GBRMPA. Lady Elliot is an island teeming with bird life and live corals and is famous for a resident population of 40 Manta Rays which form the iconic logo of the island.
The Fraser Coast is a special destination. It is not uncommon to encounter turtles, dolphins and a large variety of coral, fish and giant manta rays. If you are there in the right season you may see birds nesting, turtle hatchlings emerging from the sand or migrating humpback whales blow and breech.
