At JPT Tours, we are committed to operating responsibly and sustainably, ensuring that our tours protect the natural environment, respect local culture, and contribute positively to the communities in which we operate. Our goal is to offer meaningful travel experiences while minimising environmental impact and supporting the long-term preservation of Australia’s unique natural and cultural heritage.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
We actively work to minimise our environmental footprint by:
- • Operating small-group tours where possible
- • Encouraging guests to follow Leave No Trace principles
- • Reducing waste and single-use plastics during tours
- • Respecting wildlife habitats and national park guidelines
- • Working with local operators who share our sustainability values
SUSTAINABILITY – OUR COMMITMENT
- World Heritage Protection
- Educational Value
- Eco Certified Tourism
- Supporting Local Communities
- Low-Impact Night Tours
- Protecting Glow Worms & Nature
Our tours operate in accordance with the regulations of Springbrook National Park, a World Heritage–listed site. All tours are led exclusively by licensed and approved guides. Rather than consuming nature, we encourage quiet observation and learning, ensuring our activities place minimal impact on this protected environment and support sustainable tourism.
Our experienced guides provide clear and engaging explanations about glow worm ecology, forest ecosystems, and water cycles. By learning about nature, guests develop a deeper appreciation and awareness of conservation, transforming the tour into a meaningful experience of coexistence between people and the natural environment.
JPT Tours’ glow worm tour has maintained Eco Certification from Ecotourism Australia for over 20 years. This certification recognises our long-standing commitment to environmental protection, responsible operations, and sustainable tourism practices.
We actively support the local Gold Coast economy by employing local guides and drivers and working with local facilities and suppliers. A portion of tour revenue also contributes to the maintenance and conservation of national parks.
Our night tours are conducted in small groups over a short duration, with minimal use of artificial lighting and vehicles. By operating at night, we help reduce daytime congestion and distribute visitor impact, minimising pressure on the natural environment.
Glow worms are extremely sensitive to light and noise. During tours, guides strictly manage visitor behaviour to prevent direct light exposure and disturbance. All torches used are collected after the tour, and recycling practices are implemented to reduce waste.
CULTURAL RESPECT & COMMUNITY
We encourage our guests to support sustainable tourism by:
- • Following guide instructions at all times
- • Respecting wildlife and natural environments
- • Staying on designated paths
- • Reducing waste and taking rubbish with them
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY
JPT Tours respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate, the Yugambeh people. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
